GB/T 31270.13-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the 48-hour daphnid EC50 — the neonates under 24 hours old, the immobilisation endpoint read rather than death, the medium hardness that changes the answer for metals, and the reference substance run that proves the culture was in a fit state to be tested. Part 13 of the series. It replaces GB/T 31270.13-2014, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 31270.13-2014.

Introduction
In order to reduce the impact of pesticide use on the ecological environment and provide data that meets the requirements of pesticide environmental risk assessment, it is necessary to carry out environmental safety assessment.
Tests are conducted to clarify the metabolism, degradation, adsorption, leaching, bioaccumulation and other characteristics of pesticides in the environment as well as their toxicity to non-target organisms.
GB/T 31270 "Test Guidelines for Environmental Safety Evaluation of Chemical Pesticides" is a test method standard guiding the environmental safety evaluation test of pesticides in China.
The standard aims to standardize the pesticide environmental safety evaluation test work and improve the scientificity and comparability of pesticide environmental safety evaluation tests. It consists of 23 parts. constitute.
— Part 1: Soil metabolism test. The purpose is to clarify the metabolic pathways and metabolic rates of pesticides in soil.
— Part 2: Hydrolysis test. The purpose is to clarify the hydrolysis pathway and hydrolysis rate of pesticides.
— Part 3: Photolysis test. The purpose is to clarify the photolysis pathway and photolysis rate of pesticides.
— Part 4: Soil adsorption/desorption test. The purpose is to clarify the soil adsorption characteristics of pesticides.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
In the acute activity inhibition test, the concentration of the test substance that causes 50% of the test daphnia to inhibit their activity is expressed as EC50.
Note. The units are mga.i./L and mg test substance/L.
3.2 Immobilization
Gently shake the test container; the Daphnia cannot swim within 15 s (slight movement of the appendages is allowed).
3.3 Static test method statictest
A poisoning method in which the drug solution is not changed during the test.
3.4 Semi-static test method semi-static test
The poisoning method is to replace the drug solution at regular intervals (such as 24 hours) during the test.
3.5 flow-through test
The method of continuously updating the drug solution during the test.
