GB/T 31267-2014 is the English-translated version of 空间科学实验项目实施流程.

China's national standard for the implementation procedure of space science experiment projects. It specifies the workflow of such a project across its whole life, from establishment to conclusion, and it applies to scientific research experiments carried out using satellites, spacecraft, space laboratories, space stations and other spacecraft. Experiments carried out with rockets and high altitude balloons, and research on other celestial bodies, may take it as a reference. It divides the life of a project into four stages: establishment, ground research and system development, the space experiment itself, and data processing and analysis. The reason a procedure standard is needed rather than left to the scientists is that a space science experiment has two masters. As science it is exploratory: the result is not known, the hypothesis may change, and the value of the work lies in what is learnt. As payload it is engineering: it must fit a mass, volume, power and data budget agreed years in advance, it must survive launch, it must be safe in a crewed vehicle, and it must be delivered to a schedule set by a launch date that will not move. The standard's central requirement addresses that directly: the implementation schedule of the science project must be synchronised with the engineering development plan, and the development of experimental hardware and software must meet the requirements of the engineering development process. Everything else follows from it - the review gates, the documentation each stage produces, and the point at which a scientific requirement can no longer be changed. It builds on GB/T 28877, the general requirements for space scientific experiments. Issued on 5 December 2014 and in force since 1 April 2015.

This standard specifies the implementation of the project of space science experiments from the project to the whole process of concluding the project workflow. This standard applies to the use of satellites, spacecraft, space lab, space station and other spacecraft to carry out scientific research experiments. Using rockets and high-altitude balloons and other aircraft to carry out, research activities and scientific experiments on other celestial bodies can refer to Use of this standard.

4 General requirements

4.1 space science experiments project implementation schedule should be synchronized with the project plan should cover four stages on the principle. the project phase, ground study and research Phase system, phase space experiments, processing and analysis phase, the implementation can be refined or tailored to the specific type or characteristics of the task.

4.2 Development of software and hardware experimental devices shall meet the requirements of engineering development process.

5 Detailed requirements

5.1 Establishment Stage The main stage is the project work items.

a) According to the project guidelines, proposed scientific objectives and (or) experimental technology goals;

b) proposed resource basic needs;

c) in accordance with GB/T 28877-2012 requirements in 4.2.3, the preparation and submission of project proposals;

d) selection of projects;

e) review of the project;
