Scope

GB/T 30920-2026 is the English-translated version of 氯磺化聚乙烯(CSM)橡胶.

GB/T 30920 is the Chinese material standard for chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber, the synthetic elastomer known in the trade by its DuPont name Hypalon. The document sets the grade designation system, the requirements, the inspection rules, the marking and accompanying documents and the packaging, transport and storage, and describes the test methods for each technical index. It applies to CSM rubber made from high or low density polyethylene, liquid chlorine and sulfur dioxide, using carbon tetrachloride, chloroform or a mixture of the two as solvent, through chlorination and chlorosulfonation. CSM is chosen where ozone, chemical and heat resistance matter: roofing membrane, cable sheathing, hoses and industrial linings. The 2026 edition replaces GB/T 30920-2014 and adds test methods for residual carbon tetrachloride and chloroform, which is the environmental question that hangs over this chemistry.

Foreword

This document was issued on 30 July 2026 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of the PRC and takes effect on 1 February 2027.

It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer applies.

It is classified under ICS 83.060 and Chinese classification G 35.

The document runs to 19 pages. The identification, the dates, the classification and the table of contents on this page are taken from the cover and the printed contents of the standard itself.

This document was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2020 "Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents".

This document replaces GB/T 30920-2014 "Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber". Compared with the 2014 edition, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) the scope has been changed (see Clause 1; Clause 1 of the 2014 edition);

b) the technical index requirements have been changed (see 5.2; 4.2 of the 2014 edition);

c) the test method for volatile matter content has been changed (see 6.1; 5.1 of the 2014 edition);

d) the test method for chlorine content has been changed (see 6.2; 5.2 of the 2014 edition);

e) the test method for Mooney viscosity has been changed (see 6.4; 5.4 of the 2014 edition);

f) test methods for carbon tetrachloride content and chloroform content have been added (see 6).

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing body assumes no responsibility for identifying them.
