Scope

GB/T 30117.6-2025 (Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems - Part 6: Ultraviolet lamp products) is available as an English-translated PDF.

GB/T 30117.6-2025 — This document specifies the light radiation safety requirements for ultraviolet lamp products [including ultraviolet light emitting diode (UVLED) lamp products].

The requirements for radiation safety assessment and risk level of ultraviolet lamp products are provided, and relevant information on user safety measures and ultraviolet lamp products are provided.

Corresponding logo. This document applies to lamps and lamp systems that use ultraviolet radiation as their primary purpose and have a radiation power of 180nm~3000nm More than half of the light radiation emitted from 180nm to 3000nm is not in the spectral range of 180nm to 400nm.

In the spectral region of 180nm~400nm, GB/T 30117.1-2024 shall be used. This document is applicable to medical devices that mainly emit ultraviolet radiation. Diagnostic and cosmetic devices or products.

Since the photobiological effects of ultraviolet radiation are based on the total cumulative exposure (dose) received, this document is based on the "time-accumulated average" exposure.

The concept of radiation dose, in which the assessment distance used to determine the risk level (RG) is determined based on the actual exposure distance and exposure duration in other words, people will not be exposed to ultraviolet radiation for a long time at a very close distance (for example, 20cm~30cm).

It provides assessment distances and specific guidance for specific applications and actual situations, which is different from the general the specific application of this value is unknown in GB/T 30117.1-2024, and the time-accumulated average exposure is not for products with specific applications.

This document does not apply to. - Lamp products that primarily emit visible light (such as ordinary lighting sources) and/or infrared radiation; - lamps used for general lighting, infrared lighting or heating, which are specified in the corresponding separate standards; - UV fluorescent lamps for tanning (complying with GB/T 4706.85-2024, or see GB/T 21096-2013); - Medical treatment equipment or products (in compliance with YY9706.257-2021); - Non-optical hazards, such as ozone, mercury, etc. Note.

Introduction

Most lamps and lamp systems are safe and do not pose photobiological hazards under normal exposure conditions. However, UV lamp products are Under certain conditions, light radiation hazards may occur during use; therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the direct effects of light radiation from these products on human eyes and skin.

Possible risks arising from direct/indirect radiation.

GB/T 30117.1-2024 covers the optical radiation hazards caused by all types of lamps and broadband light sources, including light-emitting diodes (LED), incandescent lamps, low-pressure and high-pressure gas discharge lamps, arc lamps and other types of light source products; including those that mainly produce ultraviolet radiation Various lamps and lamps, such as ultraviolet light sources excited by fluorescent radiation materials, are used for insect trapping, scientific experiments, mineral identification, non-destructive testing, disinfection and Sterilization, etc.

This document provides a Risk Grade (RG) classification system for all UV lamp products, as well as the assessment distances and measurements for different products.

Conditions (see Appendix A and Appendix B). This document applies only to products whose sole purpose is to emit ultraviolet radiation and is based on GB/T 30117.1-2024 is refined. Its advantage is that for lamps that mainly emit ultraviolet light, it is not necessary to evaluate visible light and infrared light.

Radiation risk. The risk levels determined in this document can also help to carry out other necessary risk assessments, such as occupational exposure risks in the workplace.

Risk assessment, etc.

GB/T 30117 is intended to consist of the following parts.

--- Part 1: General requirements. The purpose is to standardize the assessment requirements, hazard types, emission limits, and other requirements for the photobiological safety of incoherent optical products.

Value and hazard level classification method.

--- Part 2: Guidance on manufacturing requirements related to non-laser optical radiation safety. The purpose is to standardize the optical radiation safety of non-laser products.

Basic principles guide the corresponding general product specifications to make safety requirements.

--- Part 3: Guidelines for safe use of intense pulsed light source equipment on the human body. The purpose is to protect people who are exposed to light radiation hazards and Provide guidance on establishing safety measures and procedures for those involved in the relevant hazards.

--- Part 4: Measurement methods. The purpose is to standardize the test conditions and test methods for the photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems.

--- Part 5: Projectors. The purpose is to specify the photobiological safety requirements for optical radiation emitted by projectors.

--- Part 6: Ultraviolet lamp products. The purpose is to standardize the production, installation, use and human protection of ultraviolet lamp products.

And ensure the light radiation safety of the related products.

--- Part 7: Light sources and lamps that mainly emit visible light. The purpose is to provide products related to light sources and lamps that mainly emit visible light.

The product provides a photobiological safety assessment method based on the lighting objects and scenes.
