Scope
GB/T 27975-2011 is the English-translated version of 粒化高炉矿渣的化学分析方法.
China's national methods for the chemical analysis of granulated blastfurnace slag. It specifies the determination of silica, iron oxide, aluminium oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, manganese dioxide, titanium dioxide, fluoride, total sulphur, loss on ignition, chloride, water-soluble hexavalent chromium, alkali content, sulphur trioxide and moisture, and it applies to granulated blastfurnace slag and to other materials to which the methods are applicable. Blastfurnace slag is the molten waste that floats on the iron in an ironmaking furnace, and what happens to it in the next few seconds decides whether it is a road aggregate or a cementitious material worth several times as much. Cooled slowly it crystallises and is inert. Quenched in water it granulates into a glass, and that glass, ground to cement fineness, hydrates when activated by the alkali and the calcium hydroxide released by Portland cement. Ground granulated blastfurnace slag replaces up to seventy per cent of the clinker in some concretes, and it makes a concrete with lower heat of hydration, lower permeability and much better resistance to sulphate and to chloride ingress. The analysis this standard specifies is what qualifies a slag for that use. The major oxides determine the hydraulic activity through the ratios the product standards impose; the sulphur has to be measured in two forms because slag contains sulphide as well as sulphate, and only the sulphate counts against the concrete's limit; the loss on ignition can be negative, since sulphide oxidises on ignition and the sample gains mass; and the water-soluble hexavalent chromium is determined because it is the cause of cement eczema in construction workers. 1 Scope
This standard specifies the granulated blast furnace slag in silica, iron oxide, aluminum oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, manganese dioxide
Titanium, fluoride, total sulfur, loss on ignition, chloride, water-soluble hexavalent chromium, alkali content, sulfur trioxide, a chemical analysis of water content.
