Introduction

Conventional ultrasonic testing instruments are typically based on the ultrasonic A-type pulse reflection method and have ultrasonic non-destructive testing functions such as defect quantification and localization.

GB/T 27664.1 "Nondestructive Testing Instruments - Performance and Inspection of Ultrasonic Testing Equipment - Part 1: Instruments" provides specifications for ultrasonic testing instruments.

Electrical performance testing methods and acceptance standards.

GB/T 27664 "Performance and Inspection of Ultrasonic Testing Equipment for Nondestructive Testing" is divided into the following three parts.

---Part 1: Instrumentation. The purpose is to clarify the performance characteristics of the A-type pulse ultrasonic testing instrument, its measurement methods, and acceptance procedures.

standard.

---Part 2: Probes. The purpose is to clarify the performance testing of ultrasonic probes after fabrication, including measurement methods and acceptance procedures.

standard.

---Part 3: Combined Equipment. The purpose is to illustrate the determination of the combination of an ultrasonic testing instrument and an ultrasonic probe using appropriate standard calibration blocks.

Measurement methods and acceptance criteria for working characteristics.

GB/T 27664, "Performance and Inspection of Ultrasonic Testing Equipment for Nondestructive Testing," consists of three independent parts that also complement each other, forming a comprehensive standard.

A complete standard system describes the measurement and verification methods for the performance of A-pulse ultrasonic testing instruments, probes, and combined systems.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in ISO 5577 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

The URLs for the terminology databases maintained by ISO and IEC for standardization are as follows.

Analogue output

The ultrasonic detector converts the maximum received signal inside the monitoring gate into a DC voltage value output according to the amplitude ratio.

When the ultrasonic testing instrument is in a transmit-receive (dual probe) working mode, during the transmission pulse, the signal is coupled from the transmitter output to the receiver.

Input signal interference.

When using pulse-echo technology, the amplifier saturates due to the transmitted pulse, making it unable to respond to the input signal after the transmitted pulse begins.
