GB/T 26089-2021 is the English-translated version of 船用柴油发动机手册编写要求.
GB/T 26089-2021 is the Chinese guideline for writing the manuals of marine diesel engines. It sets the basic requirements of such a manual: the kinds of manual and the format they follow, the general requirements and the content each of them has to carry, from the description of the engine to its operation, its maintenance and its spare parts.
It applies to the compilation of the manuals of marine diesel engines. Engine makers, shipyards and shipowners use it. It replaces GB/T 26089-2010, was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 26089-2010 "Requirements for the Compilation of Manuals for Marine Diesel Engines". This document is in line with GB/T 26089-2010.
Compared with.2010, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
---Expand the scope. In addition to the instructions for use, the objects of standardization also include maintenance instructions and structure instructions (see Chapter 1, 2010 Chapter 1 of the edition);
---Added the content requirements of the maintenance instructions (see 6.2);
---Added the content requirements of the structure specification (see 6.3).
1 Scope
This document specifies the basic requirements for the compilation of manuals for marine diesel engines (referred to as manuals), including manual types and format requirements, general Requirements and content requirements, etc.
This document is applicable to the compilation of manuals for marine diesel engines.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the indispensable clauses of this document through normative references in the text. 3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 1883 (all parts) and GB/T 6809 (all parts) apply to this document.
4 Type and format requirements of the manual
4.1 Type
4.1.1 The manual should contain three types.
a) Instructions for use;
b) Maintenance instructions; c) Structure specification.
4.1.2 See Appendix A for the example of the written content of the instruction manual, see Appendix B for the example of the written content of the maintenance manual, and the written content of the structure manual. See Appendix C for examples.
4.2 Layout
4.2.1 Language
It should be written in Chinese, with both Chinese and English bilingual or Chinese and the buyer's language and text bilingual. If multiple languages and multiple languages are used When there is a contradiction between the characters, the Chinese shall prevail.
