GB/T 25313-2010 is the English-translated version of 焊接设备电磁场检测与评估准则.

GB/T 25313-2010 fixes the test conditions and the evaluation methods for the electromagnetic field radiated by arc welding and resistance welding equipment working normally.

Clause 1 limits the standard to radiation at frequencies below 1 MHz and, following what current instruments can actually measure, to a measured range running from 10 Hz or lower up to 400 kHz or higher; it states that the standard applies to resistance welding and arc welding equipment.

Its contents list names a scope clause, normative references, terms and definitions, clause 4 on the detection method, clause 5 on the measuring apparatus and the measurement conditions, clause 6 on the test report and clause 7 on exemption management, followed by informative Annex A explaining low frequency electromagnetic fields.

Clause 3 defines the maximum r.m.s. value of the electric field and of the magnetic field as the r.m.s. value along the semi-major axis of the field ellipse at a given measuring point, lists the quasi-static field among the terms and also defines the resultant electric and magnetic fields, which are expressed either from the three orthogonal components or from the semi-major and semi-minor axes of the field ellipse.

The foreword records that the document draws on the ICNIRP guidelines of 1998 for limiting exposure to electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields up to 300 GHz recommended by the World Health Organization, on IEEE/ICES IEEE C95.6-2002 on safety levels for human exposure to electromagnetic fields from 0 to 3 kHz, and on the November 2008 draft of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection on electromagnetic radiation exposure limits and measurement methods, adapted to Chinese conditions and set for the case of equipment operating without an operator present.

Clause 2 cites GB/T 6113.101 on radio disturbance and immunity measuring apparatus and methods. The standard was proposed by the China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association and is administered by the national welding standardization technical committee, SAC/TC70. It was issued on 10 November 2010 and has applied since 1 May 2011.
