GB/T 24986.2-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering the reliability of a household refrigerator or freezer measured rather than claimed — the parameters and indicators, the classification, the assumptions behind an evaluation, the test plan that runs until a predetermined time is reached or a predetermined number of failures occurs, the single test duration, the interruption rules, the failure criteria and the statistics drawn from them, the data processing, and the records and reports the result rests on. Part 2 of the series. It replaces GB/T 24986.2-2010, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 May 2025. Issued on 26 October 2024, it has been in force since 1 May 2025, replacing GB/T 24986.2-2010.

Introduction
Reliability is an important indicator for evaluating household appliances. In order to provide a scientific and consistent household appliance reliability test method and standardize household appliances Reliability evaluation index, GB/T 24986 "Reliability test and evaluation of household and similar electrical appliances" was formulated. In order to avoid lengthy standards, GB/T 24986, which describes the product characteristics of different types of household appliances, is composed of the following parts in accordance with the principles of universality and particularity.
— Part 1: General requirements.
— Part 2: Particular requirements for refrigerating appliances.
— Part 3: Particular requirements for washing machines.
— Part 4: Particular requirements for room air conditioners.
— Part 5: Particular requirements for room heaters.
— Part 6: Particular requirements for air purifiers.
Part 1 provides the index selection principles and general requirements for reliability testing and evaluation methods for household and similar electrical appliances.
Part 2 to Part 6 give the specific requirements for reliability testing and evaluation of various household products.
They can be used together to form a complete household appliance reliability test and evaluation system.
