Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 24821-2009 "Dining tables and chairs". Compared with GB/T 24821-2009, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, In addition to the dynamic, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The scope has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2009 edition);

b) The definitions of "turntable" and "turntable" in the Terms and Definitions have been deleted (see

3.2 of the.2009 edition);

c) Deleted the dimensional tolerance, tabletop width, tabletop depth, tabletop height, and round tabletop diameter in the main dimensions and limit deviation requirements.

2.The provisions for the diameter, width, height, depth and diameter of the round stool surface (see Table 1 of the.2009 edition);

d) Added dimensional requirements for the inner width of armrests of armchairs, the clearance height under tables, and the height difference between the seat surfaces of chairs and stools (see Table 1);

e) The minimum distance and limit deviation between the edge of the round table top and the edge of the turntable have been changed (see Table 1, Table 1 of the.2009 edition);

f) Added requirements and test methods for consistency between physical objects and labels (see

5.3.1 and 6.3.1);

g) Added appearance requirements for ceramic rock slabs (see Table 3);

h) Added requirements and test methods for moisture resistance, heat resistance and pollution resistance of soft and hard coverings (see Table 4,

6.5.5.3 and 6.5.5.5);

1 Scope

GB/T 24821-2024 is the Chinese product standard for dining tables and chairs. It applies across the materials, wood, metal, plastic, glass and combinations, and it is the standard most often cited in contract furniture supply for restaurants, canteens and hotels, where the furniture is used far harder than in a home. The standard sets the requirements on the materials and the workmanship, the dimensional requirements including the functional dimensions that make a table and chair usable together, the appearance and surface quality requirements, the strength and durability requirements with the static, cyclic and impact load tests applied to the seat, back, arms and legs of the chair and to the top and the frame of the table, the stability requirements against tipping, the requirements on the surface coating and its resistance to heat, cold, liquids, staining and abrasion, and the limits on the harmful substances released, together with the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage. The 2024 edition replaces GB/T 24821-2009.
