Scope
GB/T 24583.6-2019 is the English-translated version of 钒氮合金 硫含量的测定 红外线吸收法.
GB/T 24583.6-2019 is Part 6 of GB/T 24583 and gives the infrared absorption method for determining sulfur in vanadium-nitrogen alloy.
The sample is burned in a stream of oxygen in a high-frequency induction furnace; the sulfur dioxide formed is carried to the measuring cell of an infrared analyser, where the energy absorbed is proportional to its concentration and the sulfur content follows from the change the detector reads.
It applies to sulfur mass fractions from 0.010% to 0.150%. It lists the reagents and materials used, among them tungsten grain, pure iron, tin particles, oxygen of at least 99.95% purity and ceramic crucibles, and states precision as the limits r and R from inter-laboratory precision data.
It replaces GB/T 24583.6-2009, was issued on 30 August 2019 and has applied since 1 July 2020.

This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 24583.6-2009 "Determination of sulfur content of vanadium-nitrogen alloys by infrared absorption method". This part and Compared with GB/T 24583.6-2009, the main technical changes are as follows.
---Modified "normative references" (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 2009 edition);
---Modified description of the principle (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the 2009 edition);
--- Revised the method of preparation and preparation of the sample (see Chapter 6, Chapter 6 of the 2009 edition);
--- Revised "Representation of Analysis Results" (see Chapter 8, Chapter 8 of the 2009 edition);
--- Replace the allowable difference with the reproducibility limit r and the reproducibility limit R of the inter-laboratory precision test data statistics (see Chapter 9, Chapter 9 of the 2009 edition).
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 24583 specifies the determination of sulfur in vanadium-nitrogen alloys by infrared absorption method.
This section applies to the determination of sulfur content in vanadium-nitrogen alloys. Measuring range (mass fraction). 0.010%~0.150%.
2 Normative references

3 Principle
The sample is heated and burned in the oxygen flow of the high-frequency induction furnace, and the sulfur-generated sulfur dioxide is carried by the oxygen to the measuring chamber of the infrared analyzer.
Sulfur oxide absorbs infrared energy of a specific wavelength, and its absorption energy is proportional to its concentration, and the sulfur content can be determined according to changes in the energy received by the detector.
4 Reagents and materials
4.1 Magnesium perchlorate, anhydrous, granular.
4.2 Alkali asbestos, granular.
4.3 Glass wool.
4.4 Tungsten grain, sulfur content is not more than 0.0005%, particle size is 0.8mm~1.4mm.
4.5 Pure iron, the sulfur content is not more than 0.002%.
4.6 Tin particles, the sulfur content is not more than 0.002%.
