3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Loadcarryingunit

The manned part of an escalator or moving sidewalk used for transportation.

Examples. steps, pedals or tape.

3.2 Ridequality

Related to passenger perception, the sound pressure level of the designated location, the carrier and the handrail associated with the operation of the escalator or moving sidewalk vibration.

3.3 Acceleration

The rate of change of speed.

Note 1.Refer to Figure 1 to Figure 4 for directions.

Note 2.It is expressed in meters per second (m/s2) or Galileo (Gal). 1Gal=0.01m/s2, 1m/s2=100Gal.
