Method 1. Combustion - Neutralization Titration

3.1 Principles

The sample at high temperature oxygen combustion, the sulfur all oxidation of sulfur dioxide, absorbed in hydrogen peroxide solution, so that the formation of sulfuric acid, with hydrogen

Sodium standard solution titration, according to the consumption of sodium hydroxide standard solution, calculate the sample sulfur content.

3.2 Reagents and materials

In the analysis, unless otherwise specified, only the approved analytical reagent and distilled water or water equivalent to its purity, in accordance with GB/T 6682

Regulations.

3.2.1

Oxygen, purity greater than 99.5%.

3.2.2 high temperature combustion tube, diameter × length

(20 ~ 40) mm × 600mm.

3.2.3

porcelain boat, pre-1400 °C in the high-temperature combustion tube in the oxygen burning 5min, cooling standby.

3.2.4

high purity iron, powder, sulfur content of less than 0.0010%.

3.2.5

vanadium pentoxide, sulfur content of less than 0.0010%.

3.2.6

silica gel, activated alumina or magnesium perchlorate, solid.

3.2.7

soda lime or sodium hydroxide (granular).

3.2.8

Chromic acid saturated solution, in sulfuric acid (rho1.84g/mL) by adding potassium dichromate or anhydrous chromic acid to make it saturated, the use of the upper clear solution.
