Introduction

National standards for exchanging product-related environmental information based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) require the use of product category rules.

(PCR). Since the publication of ISO 14025, ISO 14046, ISO/T S14067 and ISO 21930 from 2009 to 2024, Type III environments...

The implementers of the statements and footprint information exchange, as well as other organizations, have gained varying degrees of experience in the development and use of PCR.

The quality of commercially available PCRs varies, and low-quality PCRs often pose a risk of reducing the usefulness and reliability of the PCR.

Using internationally accepted methods to develop PCR can also promote the participation of all relevant parties, including those in developing countries, which can improve the efficiency of PCR.

Quality and consistency.

This document aims to ensure that PCR quality reaches a certain standard by providing principles, requirements, and guidelines for PCR development, including review, registration, and updating.

level.

This document aims to benefit organizations, governments, communities, and other stakeholders in the following ways.

---Provide an efficient and consistent development procedure for high-quality PCR;

---In relevant circumstances, achieve consistency in PCR, or acknowledge the equivalence of measures;

---especially to provide a better understanding of PCR among relevant parties and regions;

---Encourage the adoption and dissemination of PCR in the business world, enhancing the credibility and consistency of PCR (e.g., across different regions or departments) and transparency.

This document is one of a series of standards developed by SAC/TC207 concerning product environmental labeling and environmental statements.
