Compared to previous versions, aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
---The chapter on "Essential Qualities and Knowledge" has been deleted (see Chapter 3 in the 2009 edition);
---Training requirements have been added (see Chapter 4);
---The knowledge about cranes in the training course has been revised [see 7.1.1c, 6.1.1c of the 2009 edition];
---Added "Load Control" [see 7.1.1d];
---The requirements regarding the inclusion of knowledge about lifting slings in training courses have been revised [see 7.1.2a) and b), and 6.1.2a) and b) from the 2009 edition];
---The section on fiber slings and other lifting equipment in the knowledge of slings has been amended [see 7.1.2c), d), and 6.1.2c (2009 edition).
---The requirements regarding the inclusion of knowledge on hoisting methods in training courses have been revised [see 7.1.4b) and c), and 6.1.4b) from the 2009 edition.
---The requirement that training courses should include "flag signals" has been removed from the section on signaling knowledge [see 6.1.5b) and 6.2.3b) in the 2009 edition];
---Added relevant content on safety specifications (see 7.1.6);
---The requirements regarding the inclusion of work planning knowledge in training courses have been revised [see 7.1.7c) and d), and 6.1.7c) and d) in the 2009 edition];
---Added the requirement for potential hazards to be aware of at the hoisting operation site under "other cranes, equipment, or vehicles" [see 7.1.8b)];
---Added requirements for load control in hazard identification and control measures [see 7.1.8c];
---Added practical training courses on actual load mass estimation, wire rope sling selection, double-wound basket hoisting, and clamp hoisting.
The relevant details of the training steps are shown in 7.2.1.
---Added safety measures for hoisting operations in the operational courses. "Regular safety briefings for personnel involved in crane control and load handling." the requirements of the "All-round Coordination Meeting" [see 7.2.2c)];
---The steps for determining the center of gravity and installation point in the installation procedure for the lifting gear have been modified [see 7.2.7.1a, 6.2.7.1a in the 2009 edition];
---Added practice on the installation of rigging, requiring "correct use of rigging" [see 7.2.7.1e];
