1 Scope

China's national standard for the tractor of a washing machine - the small linear actuator, motor-driven or solenoid-driven, that pulls the drain valve open and engages or releases the clutch. It is one of the cheapest parts in the machine and one of the most consequential: it operates on every cycle for the life of the appliance, it has to hold its stroke against the water pressure and the spring while the drum spins, and when it fails the machine either will not drain or will not spin, which is what the owner experiences as the machine breaking down. Because it is bought in by the appliance maker rather than made in-house, its performance has to be specifiable on paper - hence a standard that fixes the vocabulary of stroke, tractive force and stroke time, a classification and a model designation, and the technical requirements and test methods that go with them. It specifies the terms and definitions, the product classification, the technical requirements and the test methods for washing machine tractors, and applies to the traction devices that drive parts such as the drain valve and the clutch in a linear motion in household and similar electric washing machines, with a single-phase AC rated voltage not exceeding 250 V.

2 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

2.1 tractor of washing machine - the driving device that makes a part of a washing machine move in a straight line.

2.2 space of traction - the linear distance moved by the tractor in one traction action when the tractor drives the drain valve.

2.3 tractive force - the force with which the tractor is able to pull a load.

2.4 tractive time - the time needed by the tractor to complete the movement of the stroke.
