Aside from editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

---Requirements for raw hides have been added (see 4.1);

---The requirements for "sensory quality," "shrinkage temperature," and "pH" have been changed (see 4.2 and 4.3, Chapter 3 of the 2008 edition);

---Added indicators for "chromium oxide (Cr2O3)," "volatile matter," "dichloromethane extract," "trichlorophenol," "hexavalent chromium," and "antifungal properties." Requirements and test methods (see 4.3, Chapter 6 and Appendix C);

---Added requirements for "size and grading" (see 4.4);

---The requirements for sampling and specimen preparation have been changed (see Chapter 5, Chapter 4 of the 2008 edition);

---Added the categories of "batching," "factory inspection," and "type inspection" (see 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3);

---The pass/fail criteria have been changed (see 7.3.3, Chapter 6 of the 2008 edition);

---Added requirements for transportation and storage (see 8.3).

This document is modified to adopt ISO 5431:2022 "Leather - Specification for wet blue goats".

Compared with ISO 5431:2022, this document has undergone many structural adjustments. A comparison table of the structural numbering changes between the two documents can be found here.

Appendix A.

This document differs significantly from ISO 5431:2022.A single vertical line is drawn in the margin outside the relevant clauses.

1 Scope

This document specifies the requirements for wet blue goat leather, as well as inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage, and describes the corresponding sampling and testing procedures.

Preparation and testing methods for the sample.

This document applies to the production, inspection, and acceptance of wet blue goat leather, which is primarily processed using chrome tanning after hair removal.
