GB/T 22188.4-2023 is Part 4 of the Chinese series on the ergonomic design of control centres, and covers the layout and dimensions of the workstation. A control room operator sits at the same desk for twelve hours watching displays that mostly say nothing is wrong, and must then act correctly in the minutes when something is: the geometry of the workstation decides whether the alarm is seen, whether the annunciator is heard over the ventilation, and whether the operator can still concentrate at the end of the shift. The standard sets the considerations for the preliminary design of the workstation layout, the user, visual task, auditory task and working posture factors, the layout requirement factors, and the dimensions for seated and for standing control workstations, with an informative annex giving a consistency matrix. It took effect on 1 March 2024.

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting. This document is Part 4 of GB/T 22188 "Ergonomics Design of Control Centers". GB/T 22188 has released the following part.
1.Design principles of control center;
2.Arrangement principles for control supporting rooms;
3.Control room layout;
4.Workstation layout and dimensions. This document is modified using ISO 11064-4.2013 "Ergonomic design of control centers Part
4.Workstation layout and size". Compared with ISO 11064-4.2013, this document has made the following structural adjustments.

This document gives ergonomic principles, recommendations and requirements for the design of control center workstations. This document focuses on controlling workstations layout and dimensions. This document is mainly applicable to seated visual display workstations and also to standing control center workstations.
