Scope
GB/T 20165-2025 is the English-translated version of 稀土抛光粉.
GB/T 20165-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the cerium-based powder that polishes cover glass, hard disk substrates and optical parts — the grades and the designation system, the chemical composition including the lanthanum oxide and praseodymium oxide fractions of total rare earth oxide, the bulk density and specific surface area, the pH value, the appearance, the test methods for each, and the sampling and sample preparation on which an inspection result stands or falls. It replaces GB/T 20165-2012. In force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 1 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026, replacing GB/T 20165-2012.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 20165-2012 "Rare earth polishing powder". Compared with GB/T 20165-2012, except for structural adjustments and editorial In addition to the modifications, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The scope of application of this document has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2012 edition);
b) Added brand names and brand name representation methods (see Chapter 4);
c) The digital brand names have been deleted (see Table 1 of the 2012 edition);
d) Added 14 characters for the brand name (see 4.1);
e) Deleted true density and phase composition (see 4.1 of the 2012 edition);
f) The requirements for specific radioactivity have been deleted (see 4.2 of the 2012 edition);
g) Added the requirements and test methods for La2O3/REO and Pr6O11/REO in the chemical composition (see 5.1 and 6.1.3);
h) Added requirements and test methods for bulk density and specific surface area (see 5.2, 6.2.2, and 6.2.3);
i) The requirements and test methods for pH value have been changed (see 5.3, 6.3, and 4.3, 5.6 of the 2012 edition);
j) The requirements for appearance quality have been changed (see 5.4, 4.4 of the 2012 edition);
k) Sampling and sample preparation have been changed (see 7.4, 6.4 of the 2012 edition).

1 Scope
This document specifies the grades and designation methods, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, and other aspects of rare earth polishing powder.
Transmit, store and carry documents.
This document applies to powder products with certain polishing properties that are made from cerium-based rare earth compounds through chemical processing.
Note. Rare earth polishing powder is mainly used in cover glass (including mobile phone back cover), hard disk glass substrate, optical devices, crystal, rhinestone jewelry, liquid crystal glass substrate, etc. Surface polishing.
