GB/T 20092.3-2022 is Part 3 of the Chinese standard on news information content and defines the XML format used to exchange it.

It applies to the whole production cycle of news information - gathering, editing, generation, release, exchange, storage, retrieval, evaluation and feedback - and to newspapers, radio, television, news agencies, news websites and social media.

Its normative annexes carry the XMLSchema and the schema for the inline smart tags. It cites GB/T 4880.2, GB/T 4881, GB/T 7408 and GB/T 20092.1-2022. It partially replaces GB/T 20092-2013 and was issued on 12 October 2022, applying since that same day.

In recent years, the standard during the implementation process, some new application scenarios are constantly emerging, resulting in some new application requirements, and some application systems of the news media are gradually no longer available.

Because of the technical content defined by GB/T 20092-2013 it is mainly defined based on the XML format, which has gradually failed to meet the application requirements of the news media, so the main purpose of this revision is to avoid limit the standard content to a certain technology, separate the conceptual model of Chinese news information content from news metadata, and integrate news information the XML format and JSON format of the information content are standardized and defined separately, so that the scope of the standard is clearer and the definition is clearer.
