GB/T 18916.6-2023 is Part 6 of GB/T 18916 and sets the water intake quota for beer. It gives the method for calculating the water taken per thousand litres of beer, the quota itself and the quota management requirements, and applies to water withdrawal management in existing, new and expanded breweries.

Water intake covers surface water, groundwater, urban water supply projects and the water or water products such as steam, hot water and geothermal water bought from the market.

The supply scope takes in brewing and packaging, the power and testing services and the offices, canteens, bathrooms, dormitories and greenery inside the plant, but not malting.

It cites GB/T 4927, GB/T 12452, GB/T 18820, GB/T 21534 and GB/T 24789. It replaces GB/T 18916.6-2012, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 1 September 2023.

Introduction

Water quota is a technical standard and an important basis for measuring the level of water conservation. basis for rationalizing and conducting water resource justification. The quota standard for water use is to verify the permitted water volume, carry out water-saving evaluation, carrier construction, and standard-to-standard management it is also an important means to implement the most stringent water resources management system.

GB/T 18916 will clarify the range of water intake, the supply range of water intake and the limits of water intake according to the characteristics of water use in different industries.

Metering, stipulates the calculation method of water intake quota, divides the quota index level, and makes requirements for quota management.

4 Calculation method

4.1 General provisions

4.1.1 Scope of water intake

The amount of water extracted by enterprises from various conventional water sources, including surface water (measured by water supply from water purification plants), groundwater, urban water supply projects, and and the water volume of other water or water products (such as steam, hot water, geothermal water, etc.) purchased by the enterprise from the market.

4.1.2 Water supply scope

The scope of water supply for beer manufacturing includes: main production (beer brewing, packaging), auxiliary production (power, inspection and testing) and auxiliary production (Office buildings, canteens, bathrooms, dormitories in the factory, greening in the factory, etc.), excluding malting.

4.2 Kiloliters of beer water intake

The water intake of thousand liters of beer is calculated according to formula (1):

In the formula:
