Scope

GB/T 18371-2008 is the English-translated version of 连续玻璃纤维纱.

China's national product standard for continuous glass filament yarn - the twisted glass yarn from which electronic-grade and industrial fabrics are woven. It specifies the terms and definitions, the classification and code, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking, packaging, transport and storage, and it applies to single and plied twisted yarns of filament diameter not greater than 13 micrometres and linear density below 600 tex. It does not apply to roving, staple fibre yarn or textured yarn. The 2008 edition made one change that matters more than all the others: it split the product into industrial grade and electronic grade and set separate requirements for each. Electronic-grade yarn is the raw material of printed circuit board substrate, and the demands there are of a different order. The yarn is woven into very thin fabric which is impregnated with resin to make prepreg, and any irregularity - a broken filament, a fuzz ball, an inconsistency in twist, a variation in linear density - becomes a defect in a laminate on which conductor tracks tens of micrometres wide will be printed. Industrial-grade yarn goes into filtration, insulation, reinforcement and technical fabrics where those tolerances would be pointless expense. The requirements accordingly cover linear density and its variation, the twist and the twist balance, the tensile breaking strength and elongation, the filament diameter, the moisture content, the combustible content, and the yarn stiffness - the last with a test method given in an informative annex added in this edition, since stiffness governs how the yarn behaves on a high-speed loom. Issued on 12 May 2008 and in force since 1 November 2008, it replaces GB/T 18371-2001.

Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 18371-2001 "continuous glass fiber yarn." This standard compared with GB/T 18371-2001 main changes are as follows:

--- The continuous glass fiber yarn and yarn into industrial grade electronic grade yarn, and were requested;

--- Added Appendix A "continuous glass fiber yarn Stiffness Test Method." Please note that some of the content of this standard may involve patents, the issuing authority of this standard should not bear the responsibility to identify these patents. Appendix A of this standard is an informative annex. The standard proposed by China Building Materials Industry Association. This standard by the National Standardization Technical Committee fiberglass (SAC/TC245) centralized. This standard is drafted by: Nanjing Fiberglass Research and Design Institute, Taishan Fiberglass Zoucheng Limited. Participated in the drafting of this standard. 1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of continuous glass fiber yarn, classification and code, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, Transport and storage. This standard applies to single fiber diameter of not greater than 13µm, line density is less than 600tex, there is a continuous single yarn and twist doubled yarn. Unwell For roving, staple fiber yarn and textured yarn.
