Scope

GB/T 18114.9-2025 is the English-translated version of 稀土精矿化学分析方法 第9部分:五氧化二磷含量的测定.

GB/T 18114.9-2025 is the Chinese national method for measuring how much phosphorus pentoxide a rare earth concentrate contains.

It describes two procedures: bismuth phosphide molybdenum blue spectrophotometry, in which the sample is fused with alkali, leached with hot water and read colorimetrically at 700 nm after reduction with ascorbic acid, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, the first being the arbitration method.

The determination range is a mass fraction of 0.10% to 30.00%, and the document lists the reagents, the grade II water of GB/T 6682 and the repeatability and reproducibility limits obtained from inter-laboratory trials.

Concentrate producers and testing laboratories use it. It is Part 9 of GB/T 18114, replaces GB/T 18114.9-2010, was issued on 1 August 2025 and has applied since 1 February 2026.

f) Added the determination requirements for inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (Method 2) (see Chapter 5).

Introduction

Rare earth concentrate refers to the product of rare earth ore after beneficiation and enrichment, with rare earth content reaching the smelting requirements. Because rare earth has excellent optical, electromagnetic and other physical properties, it can be used with A wide variety of new raw materials with different material compositions and properties can significantly improve the quality and performance of other products.

Formulate scientific and accurate chemical composition analysis method standards, clarify the scope of application, and standardize reagents. and materials, test equipment and procedures, and give precision data after repeated tests and verification, which can enhance the data between different laboratories.

The consistency and comparability of rare earth concentrate products provide a rigorous and standardized technical means for quality inspection, which is conducive to promoting the quality of rare earth concentrate products.

This series of standards GB/T 18114 "Chemical analysis methods for rare earth concentrates" focuses on the total amount of rare earth oxides in rare earth concentrates, 15 rare earth elements, The detection of the proportion of earth element oxides and coexisting non-rare earth elements consists of 11 parts in total.

--- Part 1: Gravimetric determination of the total amount of rare earth oxides. The purpose is to establish a gravimetric method for the determination of rare earth oxides in rare earth concentrates. Method of substance content.

--- Part 2: Determination of thorium oxide content. The purpose is to establish a plasma emission spectrometry and plasma mass spectrometry method for the determination of thorium oxide content in rare earth concentrates. Method for determining the thorium oxide content in water.

--- Part 3: Determination of calcium oxide content. The purpose is to establish flame atomic absorption spectrometry, EDTA titration, inductively coupled Method for determining calcium oxide content in rare earth concentrates by plasma atomic emission spectrometry.

--- Part 4: Determination of niobium oxide, zirconium oxide and titanium oxide content - Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry.

Method for determining niobium oxide, zirconium oxide and titanium oxide in rare earth concentrates by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry.

--- Part 5: Determination of aluminum oxide content - Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. The purpose is to establish an inductively coupled plasma Method for determination of alumina content in rare earth concentrates by volume emission spectrometry.

--- Part 6: Determination of silicon dioxide content. The purpose is to establish molybdenum blue spectrophotometry and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry Method for determining silicon dioxide content in rare earth concentrates.

--- Part 7: Determination of iron oxide content Potassium dichromate titration method. The purpose is to establish a potassium dichromate titration method for the determination of rare earth concentrates Method for measuring iron oxide content in water.

--- Part 8: Determination of rare earth oxide content and proportion. The purpose is to establish an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry method for the determination of rare earth oxides.

Method for determining the content of rare earth oxides in rare earth concentrate by distribution and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.

--- Part 9: Determination of phosphorus pentoxide content. The purpose is to establish a bismuth molybdenum blue spectrophotometric method and inductively coupled plasma Method for determining phosphorus pentoxide content in rare earth concentrates by emission spectrometry.

--- Part 10: Determination of moisture by gravimetric method. The purpose is to establish a gravimetric method for the determination of moisture content in rare earth concentrates.

--- Part 11: Determination of fluoride content. The purpose is to establish EDTA titration method, alizarin spectrophotometry and fluoride ion selective electrode Method for determining the fluorine content in rare earth concentrates.

All standard methods specified in this document have been tested and verified by multiple laboratories, and the "allowable difference" clause has been modified to the "reproducibility" clause.

This document provides repeatability and reproducibility limits covering at least high, medium and low phosphorus pentoxide contents, making the method precision requirements more complete.

GB/T 18114.9-2000 was revised in 2010 to better adapt to the changes in the rare earth industry and improve Rare earth concentrate product analysis and testing technology and standard system, based on the new industry and market changes and needs, the original method "phosphorus bismuth molybdenum blue spectrometry Based on the "photometric method", "Method 2 Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry" was added to cover the existing rare earth concentrate products of concern The index of phosphorus pentoxide content provides a quick and accurate method standard for the determination of phosphorus pentoxide content in rare earth concentrates.
