3.1 Controlchart

In order to monitor the process, control and reduce process variability, a series of sample statistic value sequences are plotted in a specific order.

Note 1. The specific order usually refers to the order of time or sample acquisition.

Note 2. Control charts are most effective when used to monitor the characteristics of the final product or service.

3.2 Control limits

A statistical value used to determine the expected degree of stability of a characteristic.

Note 1. Control charts usually have one or two control limits.

Note 2. "Stability" is not only for controlled processes, it can also be for the stability of the target value.
