1 Scope

This document describes the methods for field efficacy plot trials of fungicides for the control of rice sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani). This document applies to field efficacy plot trials and efficacy evaluations of fungicides for the registration of control of rice sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani. The price and other field efficacy trials should be conducted in accordance with the same guidelines.
4 Test conditions
4.1 Selection of test subjects, crops and varieties The experimental subject was rice sheath blight. The experimental crop was rice, and susceptible varieties or locally grown varieties were selected. The variety names were recorded.
4.2 Environmental Conditions Field trials should be conducted in rice paddies prone to disease. Cultivation conditions (soil type, depression level, fertilizer, sowing method) for all experimental plots should be considered. The timing, density, growth period, and water layer management should be uniform and consistent, and conform to local scientific agricultural practices.
5 Experimental Design and Arrangement
5.1 Test Treatment Test reagents, control reagents, and blank controls should be included.
5.2 Reagents
5.2.1 Test reagents The test reagent should be applied at least three times; in special cases, the dosage should be set according to experimental requirements. Specify the Chinese/English common name or code of the reagent. Dosage form, active ingredient content, manufacturer, production date or batch number, expiration date, etc.
5.2.2 Control reagent The control agent should be a registered, locally commonly used product with good efficacy and safety in actual use. The type and function of the control agent should be clearly defined. The method should be the same as or similar to that of the test drug, and the registered dosage should be used. If the test drug is a compound formulation, a single dose of each active ingredient should also be included as a control. Control drug. Special cases may vary depending on the purpose of the experiment. Record the Chinese/English common name, dosage form, active ingredient content, and manufacturer of the control drug. The product name, registration number, production date or batch number, and dosage are required.
5.3 Community Arrangement
5.3.1 Layout of the community The experimental, control, and blank control plots were randomly assigned to blocks, and the plot arrangement was recorded. Special circumstances should be noted.
Note. If the pesticide has systemic effects, small embankments should be built between each cell to prevent the pesticide from interfering with neighboring cells.
5.3.2 Area of the community and duplication Community area. 15m2~50m2. Number of repetitions. at least 4 repetitions.
6 Applying pesticides
6.1 Application Method Follow the test requirements and label instructions. Application methods should be adapted to local scientific agricultural practices. Record the application methods and procedures. process.
6.2 Application equipment Select commonly used equipment in production, or choose equipment according to experimental requirements. Record the type of equipment used and its operating conditions (e.g., working pressure, etc.). All information regarding nozzle type and nozzle diameter.
6.3 Application time and frequency Conduct the experiment according to the test requirements and label instructions. Record the number of applications, the date of each application, and the crop growth stage. The first application should be made at the site of the disease. Before or at the initial stage of an outbreak, the timing of a second application of pesticide depends on the development of the disease during the rice's growth.
6.4 Dosage Administer the medication according to the test requirements and the dosage specified on the label, and record the prepared dosage and the amount of active ingredient. The prepared dosage is usually expressed in mL/667m2 (milliliters). The dosage is expressed as per 667 square meters (g/667m2) or g/667m2 (grams per 667 square meters), while the effective ingredient dosage is expressed as g/hm2 (grams per hectare). Spray application. When applying pesticides, record the amount of pesticide solution used per hectare, expressed in L/hm2 (liters per hectare). The pesticide application should be evenly distributed; deviations in application should be minimized. If the value exceeds ±10%, its impact should be recorded and assessed.
6.5 Chemical requirements for controlling other diseases, pests, and weeds If other agents are used, those that have no effect on the test agent and test subjects should be selected, and all plots should be treated uniformly. Use separately from test and control agents to minimize interference from these agents. Record the accurate number of doses administered. Information such as the generic name of the drug, dosage form, content of active ingredient, manufacturer, dosage, application method, application time, and target pests.
7.1 Drug Efficacy Survey
7.1.1 Survey Methodology Based on the severity of damage symptoms to rice leaf sheaths and leaves, samples were taken at five points diagonally across each plot, with each point being investigated in adjacent areas. Five clumps, totaling 25 clumps, record the total number of plants, the number of diseased plants, and the disease severity. The survey is categorized as follows:
0.The entire plant is disease-free;
1.Disease occurs on the fourth leaf and all leaf sheaths and leaves below it (the uppermost leaf is considered the first leaf);
3.Disease occurs in the third leaf and all leaf sheaths and leaves below it;
5.Disease occurs on the second leaf and all leaf sheaths and leaves below it;
7.Disease occurs in the first leaf and all leaf sheaths and leaves below it;
9.The entire plant is infected and dies prematurely.
7.1.2 Survey Time and Frequency Before applying the pesticide, investigate the baseline disease incidence. Determine the timing and frequency of these investigations during the application period based on the disease development or experimental requirements. Efficacy investigations should be conducted 7 to 14 days after the first application. For drugs with a long duration of effect, further investigations can be conducted.
7.2 Direct impact on crops Observe whether the pesticide causes phytotoxicity to the crop, record the type and degree of phytotoxicity, and accurately describe the symptoms of phytotoxicity in the crop (stunting, chlorosis, deformity). (etc.). In addition, other effects of the agent on crops (such as promoting ripening, stimulating growth, etc.) were recorded. Record pesticide damage in the following ways.
a) If the damage from pesticides can be measured or calculated, express it in absolute values, such as plant height.
b) In other cases, the severity and frequency of phytotoxicity can be estimated using the following two methods. 1) Record the phytotoxicity level of each plot according to the phytotoxicity grading method in Table 1, using -,,,,, ; 2) Compare the drug-treated area with the blank control area to evaluate the percentage of drug damage.
7.3 Impact on Production According to the experimental requirements or when there is obvious phytotoxicity during the experimental period, the yield of each plot shall be measured and recorded in kg/hm2 (kilograms per hectare). express.
7.4 Impacts on other organisms
7.4.1 Impact on other pests and diseases Observe and record any effects of the pesticide on other pests and diseases in the test area, including both beneficial and harmful effects.
7.4.2 Effects on other non-target organisms Observe and record the effects of the agent on non-target organisms such as fish, shrimp, crabs, and natural enemy insects in the experimental area.
7.5 Meteorological and Soil Data
7.5.1 Meteorological Data During the experiment, rainfall data (rainfall type, daily rainfall, and daily rainfall in mm) was recorded from the test site or the nearest weather station. Data on temperature (daily average temperature, maximum and minimum temperatures, expressed in °C) and adverse weather conditions affecting the test results throughout the entire test period were recorded. Data on climate factors, such as severe or prolonged droughts, torrential rains, hail, etc.
7.5.2 Soil Data Record information such as soil type, soil fertility, water depth at the time of pesticide application, and direction of overflow or drainage water.
8.1 Formula for Calculating Drug Efficacy
8.1.1 Disease Index The disease index is calculated using formula (1).
8.1.2 Prevention and control effect If the disease has already occurred before the first application of the medication, the control effect is calculated according to formula (2).
8.2 Statistical Analysis The results were analyzed and significant differences were determined by applying appropriate biostatistical methods (such as Duncan's new multiple range method or other multiple comparison methods). Compare the sexes and indicate the statistical analysis software used.
9 Results and Report Writing
Based on the experimental results and statistical analysis, the product characteristics, efficacy, safety, and key usage techniques were evaluated, and an experimental report was compiled.
