1 Scope

GB/T 17980.12-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering trials against citrus scale insects - armoured insects that are only susceptible during the brief crawler stage, so the timing of the spray matters more than the product. The guideline fixes the trial design and the plots, the timing and rate of application, the assessment of live scales on marked branches and fruit, the calculation of efficacy against the untreated control and the phytotoxicity to be recorded. It replaces GB/T 17980.12-2000, one of the parts of GB/T 17980 revised together in this batch. It was issued on 27 February 2026 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, replacing GB/T 17980.12-2000. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This document describes the method for field efficacy trials of insecticides for controlling citrus scale insects. This document applies to the use of insecticides to control the arrowhead scale (Unaspisyanonensis) and brown scale (Chrysomphalus) in citrus trees. Field efficacy trials and evaluations of pesticides for registered scale insects such as *Plasters floridensis* were conducted in designated plots. Field efficacy trials were also conducted for other fruit tree scale insects. The experiment was conducted in accordance with the guidelines.
