3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined by IEC 61196-1 apply to this document.
4 Ellipticity test
4.1 Principle
The ellipticity of the cable is determined by measuring two orthogonal diameters on the cross-section of the finished cable specimen.
4.2 Test Equipment
The resolution of the instrument is 0.01mm. The following instruments can be used.
--- Microscope. Can be read to the third decimal place;
--- Projection measuring instrument. Magnification at least 10 times;
--- Caliper;
---micrometer.
4.3 sample preparation
Three specimens were taken from the finished cable, each specimen having a cut-off interval of at least 100 mm. According to the relevant sub-specification or detailed regulations
Make sure that the cross-section of each specimen should be cut flat and carefully clean the burrs.
4.4 Procedures
The outer diameter of the cable was measured twice for each cross-section and the diameters measured should be perpendicular to each other.
Each time a measurement is taken, an appropriate position is selected. Both diameters are perpendicular to each other and give their maximum difference.
