Introduction

Drilling fluid is a general term for various circulating fluids that meet the needs of drilling operations during oil and gas drilling. It is essential for oil and gas drilling workers.

As drilling becomes increasingly difficult, drilling fluid technology plays an increasingly important role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and rapid drilling.

The essential role. my country has established a national standard system to support drilling fluid testing. Within this system, GB/T 16783 "Petroleum and Natural Gas" is included.

The "Industrial Drilling Fluids" standard aims to specify in detail the field testing methods for drilling fluids in the oil and gas industry, and is proposed to consist of two parts.

---Part 1: Water-based drilling fluids. The purpose is to specify the field testing procedures for water-based drilling fluids.

---Part 2: Oil-based drilling fluids. The purpose is to specify the field testing procedures for oil-based drilling fluids.

To ensure the quality of field testing of drilling fluids, my country first issued GB/T 16783 "Field Testing Procedures for Water-Based Drilling Fluids" in 1997.

The preface states that two versions of GB/T 16783.1 have been published successively. GB/T 16783.1-2014 has been in effect for over ten years and is a standard for water-based drilling fluids.

Standardized testing methods for basic properties such as rheology, filtrate loss, and filtrate testing can effectively evaluate the drilling fluid's ability to carry cuttings and maintain wellbore stability.

Power, after years of promotion and application, has been well received by engineering technicians and other users. With the advancement of drilling in my country, new technological demands and...

Suggestions continue to emerge. Therefore, it is indeed necessary to revise and improve GB/T 16783.1 to continuously adapt to domestic and international practices for field testing of water-based drilling fluids.

New legal changes and new demands from the drilling industry ensure the smooth implementation of on-site testing of drilling fluids for the oil and gas industry.

Oil and gas industry drilling fluid Field Testing Part 1: Water-based Drilling Fluid Warning. As with other laboratory procedures that require the use of potentially hazardous chemicals, users of this document must possess the relevant knowledge.

The personnel are aware of and have received training on the use and handling of hazardous chemicals. Users are responsible for complying with local, regional, and national regulations regarding laboratory personnel.

All applicable requirements, as well as local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
