Scope
GB/T 16444-2008 is the English-translated version of 平面二次包络环面蜗杆减速器.
GB/T 16444-2008 covers planar double-enveloping worm gear reducers of the PWU, PWO and PWS series and fixes their basic parameters, lubrication, load-carrying capacity, technical requirements, technical performance, test methods, acceptance rules, marking and packaging.
Clause 1 states that it applies to the slow-speed drives of machinery and equipment in metallurgy, mining, lifting, transport, petroleum, chemical, construction and other industries, and limits it to reducers working with a shaft angle of 90 degrees, a worm speed not exceeding 1500 r/min, a centre distance of 80 mm to 710 mm, a ratio of 10 to 63 and an ambient temperature of minus 40 degrees C to 40 degrees C, with the lubricating oil to be heated above 0 degrees C before start-up when the ambient temperature is below zero, the worm shaft being free to run in either direction.

Clause 3 distinguishes the three series by the position of the worm, under the worm wheel for PWU, above it for PWO and at its side for PWS, each series having three assembly forms denoted I, II and III and illustrated in figures 1 to 5.

Foreword
This standard is GB/T 16444-1996 "plane double enveloping worm reducer series, lubricating and load carrying capacity" and GB/T 16446-1996 "plane double enveloping worm reducer technical conditions" for the integration of a revised standard. This standard replaces GB/T 16444-1996 and GB/T 16446-1996. This standard modifications are as follows.
--- Standard name changed to "flat double enveloping worm reducer";
--- Normative references using the latest standards, and removed the body not covered by the reference standard;
--- Size and position of the anchor bolt hole worm input length of the worm and the worm gear unit mounted on under-mounted gear unit were modify;
--- Rated input power table center distance 400mm above the rated input power and rated output torque has been modified. Appendix A of this standard is the data appendix. The standard proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the PWU, PWO, PWS three series of the second plane enveloping worm reducer (hereinafter referred to as reducer) of The basic parameters, lubrication and bearing capacity, technical requirements, technical performance, test methods, inspection rules, signs and packaging.
This standard applies to slow transmission metallurgy, mining, lifting, transportation, petroleum, chemical, construction and other industries machinery and equipment.
This standard applies to working conditions.
a) two-axis angle 90 °;
b) worm speed does not exceed 1500r/min;
c) center distance of 80mm ~ 710mm, ratio of 10 to 63;
d) working environment temperature -40 °C ~ 40 °C (when the ambient temperature is below 0 °C, before starting lubricating oil should be heated to above 0 °C);
e) the worm shaft can be positive, the reverse operation.

This standard covers PWU (worm in the worm under), PWO (worm on the worm), PWS (worm in the worm side) three series.
Each series has three assembly forms, with code I, II, III represents (see Fig. 1 to 5).
