GB/T 15758-2008 is the English-translated version of 花键基本术语.
China's national vocabulary for splines - the toothed shaft-and-hub connection that carries torque in almost every gearbox, drive shaft and hydraulic pump made. A spline is a set of teeth cut around a shaft and a matching set cut inside a bore, so that the two turn together while, in many designs, still being free to slide along the axis. Nothing about it is complicated until it has to be specified: the tooth profile can be straight-sided or involute or cut on an end face, the fit can be centred on the flanks or on either diameter, and the tolerance system has to control not only the size of each tooth but the accumulated error over the whole set. At that point everyone involved - the designer, the machinist, the inspector and the buyer - needs to be using the same words for the same things, and a drawing that says "working flank" or "datum plane" has to mean one thing only. This standard is that dictionary. It defines the general terms of the spline joint, the kinds of spline, the tooth profile, the basic parameters, the circles and diameters, the fits, and the terms used for errors, tolerances and measurement, giving each term its Chinese name, its English equivalent and its definition, with figures where a definition needs one, and closing with a Chinese index and an English index. It applies to rectangular, involute and face splines, and other splines may be handled by reference to it.

Foreword
This standard is GB/T 15758-1995 "spline basic terms" amendments.
This standard and GB/T 15758-1995 compared to the main changes are as follows.
--- 2.3 Cancel "inside and outside" the word;
--- 2.9 "cylindrical surface and the end tooth spline" to "end the cylindrical surface or spline tooth";
--- 2.21 in the "internal and external spline" to "two spline" will "(with toothed margin part)" is replaced
"(With toothed margin)";
--- 6.5 in the "pressure angle design value" to "pressure angle as the standard value";
--- 7.2.4 Cancel "actually measured";
--- 7.2.8 Cancel "actually measured";
--- Remove the center line in Figure 1, modifying 13, 14 in the addendum arc, both ends of the parallel;
--- 25 increase in two parallel lines and a cone prime dotted line;
--- 32 and 7.3.2 of the "Combined length" to "suit the length."

1 Scope
This standard specifies basic terms and their definitions splines.
This standard applies to rectangular, involute and spline end teeth, splines can also refer to other use.
On twenty equally spaced and the same number of teeth of the spline teeth interconnected and pass coaxial coupling member torque or motion. See Figure 1.
