Scope

GB/T 14353.9-2010 is the English-translated version of 铜矿石、铅矿石和锌矿石化学分析方法第9部分：钼量测定.

GB/T 14353.9-2010 is Part 9 of the Chinese national series of methods for the chemical analysis of copper ores, lead ores and zinc ores, and specifies the determination of molybdenum content.

It gives two methods: a catalytic polarographic method in a sulfuric acid - mandelic acid - cinchonine - potassium chlorate system after sodium peroxide fusion and hot-water extraction, covering 0.5 µg/g to 10 µg/g of molybdenum; and a thiocyanate spectrophotometric method at 460 nm, with thiourea reduction and copper catalysis after sodium carbonate - sodium peroxide fusion, covering 0.005 % to 2 %.

For each method it sets out the reagents and standard solutions, apparatus, sample preparation and drying, test portion masses, blank and verification tests, decomposition, calibration, calculation of results and precision data, with safety warnings on mercury handling in polarography.

It replaces GB/T 14353.9-1993: warning statements have been added, the sample drying temperature has been changed and the former Annex B butyl acetate extraction - thiocyanate photometric method has been deleted.

This part replaces GB/T 14353.9-1993, Methods for chemical analysis of copper ores, lead ores and zinc ores - Determination of molybdenum.

Compared with GB/T 14353.9-1993, the main changes in this part are as follows:

- warning and caution statements have been added;

- the drying temperature of the sample has been modified;

- former Annex B (supplementary), Determination of molybdenum by butyl acetate extraction - thiocyanate photometry, has been deleted.
