GB/T 12005.3-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the product requirements for general grade polyacrylamide - the anionic, cationic and non-ionic grades used to flocculate water and sludge, with their molecular weight ranges, ionicity, dissolution behaviour and residual monomer limits. It replaces GB/T 13940-1992, folding it into the GB/T 12005 series as Part 3, alongside Part 2 on property determination. In force from 1 December 2026. It was issued on 25 May 2026 and takes effect on 1 December 2026, replacing GB/T 13940-1992. The document is under the responsibility of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part
1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document is Part 3 of GB/T 12005 "Polyacrylamide". GB/T 12005 has already published the following parts.

3.General Product Requirements. This document supersedes GB/T 13940-1992 "Polyacrylamide". Compared with GB/T 13940-1992, this document has the following changes except for structural adjustments and... Aside from editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
---The scope has been changed; the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for colloids have been deleted, and new requirements have been added. Suitable for cationic and amphoteric polyacrylamides; not suitable for polyacrylamide products used in hygiene, food, and water treatment. (See Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.1992 edition);
---The model number has been removed (see Chapter 3 of the.1992 edition);
---Added polyacrylamide, anionic polyacrylamide, nonionic polyacrylamide, cationic polyacrylamide, and amphoteric polyacrylamide. Terminology and definitions for ionic polyacrylamide (see Chapter 3);

3 General Product Requirements
1.Scope This document specifies the technical requirements and test methods for anionic, nonionic, cationic, and amphoteric polyacrylamides. Inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements. This document applies to the production and inspection of polyacrylamide products made from acrylamide as the main raw material using different polymerization methods. This document does not apply to the production and inspection of polyacrylamide products used in hygiene, food, and water treatment.
4.Technical Requirements and Test Methods The technical requirements and test methods for powdered polyacrylamide are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
5 Batching, Sampling and Sampling
5.1 Batching Powdered or granular products produced under the same raw materials and process conditions are considered as a batch after drying, pulverizing, and mixing in one or more batches.
5.2 Sampling Sampling of powdered polyacrylamide shall be conducted in accordance with GB/T 6678, with each sample weighing no less than 1 kg, or as agreed upon by the relevant parties. The collected samples were placed into two clean, dry, transparent plastic sampling bottles (bags), sealed, and stored separately. One bottle (bag) was used for testing, and the other bottle (bag) was used for other purposes. Retain a sample for future re-inspection. Specify the product model, location, batch number, and sampling date.
5.3 Spot checks For the same batch of products, samples shall be taken from the sampling port of the production line before packaging, or after packaging, the products shall be sampled in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 6678.
6.1.1 Factory Inspection
6.1.1.1 Except for dissolution rate and residual acrylamide content, the other items in Tables 1 and 2 are factory inspection items.
6.1.1.2 Factory inspection items shall be inspected on a batch basis; or the inspection items shall be determined by agreement among the relevant parties.
6.1.2 Type Testing Type testing includes all items specified in Chapter
4.Type testing shall be conducted under any of the following circumstances.
a) During normal production, a type test shall be conducted every 6 months;
b) When there are significant changes in raw materials, processes, equipment, or formulas that may affect product performance;
c) When production resumes after a shutdown of more than 3 months;
d) When the factory inspection results differ significantly from the previous type inspection results.
6.2 Judgment Rules
6.2.1 When all inspection items of the factory inspection or type inspection meet the corresponding index requirements, the batch of products is deemed to have passed the factory inspection or type inspection. The inspection was passed.
6.2.2 If one or more inspection items fail to meet the corresponding requirements during factory inspection or type inspection, the inspection may be cancelled from the same date. Double the sampling rate for each batch of products, and retest any non-conforming items. If the retest results meet the corresponding requirements, the batch of products is deemed (qualified); otherwise... The batch of products was deemed substandard.
7 Marking, Packaging, Transport and Storage
7.1 Marking Each batch of products should be accompanied by a quality inspection report, and each package should have a clear and secure marking indicating the following information.
a) Product Name;
b) Product type;
d) This document number;
e) Production date;
f) Batch number;
j) Manufacturer's name;
l) Moisture-proof and sun-protection labels.
7.2 Packaging
7.2.1 The product can be packaged in plastic bags with polyethylene linings, kraft paper bags, rigid drums, etc., with a net content of 25kg or 750kg per bag (drum), or This was determined through consultation between both parties.
7.2.2 Packaging shall ensure that the product is not contaminated or leaked during transportation, stacking, and storage.
7.3 Transportation
7.3.1 Products should be protected from direct sunlight or rain during transportation.
7.3.2 Ensure the packaging remains intact during transportation and loading/unloading.
7.4 Storage The product should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry, clean warehouse with adequate fire-fighting facilities. During storage, it should be kept away from heat sources and protected from direct sunlight. The product should not be stored in the open air. Shelf life is 18 months.
