This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 10072-2003 "Technical requirements for electronic flash devices for photography". Compared with GB/T 10072-2003, In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope

GB/T 10072-2025 is the Chinese national standard on specifications of electronic flash equipments for photograph, in the field of image technology. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 29 August 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 March 2026. Classification: ICS 37.040.10, CCS N 46. This document specifies the technical requirements for electronic flash devices for photographic use, describes the corresponding test methods, and stipulates the inspection rules, marking, packaging, etc. Packaging, transportation and storage, etc. This document applies to the manufacture of external electronic flash devices that provide main light or fill light for camera photography. This document does not apply to high-power studio flash units.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 13987-2025 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 light output The integral of the luminous intensity of the flash device in the direction of the reflector axis over time.

Note. The unit of light output is candela second (cd·s).

3.2 Readyindication An indication signal that the flash unit is charged to the point where it can fire a flash.

3.3 Flash index guide number; GN NGN Related to the ISO sensitivity of the film or digital camera used, the camera's required sensitivity to obtain the proper exposure for the film or image sensor. The product of the lens aperture (F-number) and the distance from the flash light source to the subject.
