GB 7296-2018 is the English-translated version of 饲料添加剂 硝酸硫胺 (维生素B1).
GB 7296-2018 specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, transport, storage and shelf life of the feed additive thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1) produced by chemical synthesis from aminopropionitrile; Clauses 1, 4 and 6 are mandatory and the rest is recommended.
The technical indicators are thiamine mononitrate content 98.0% to 101.0% on a dry basis, loss on drying <= 1.0%, residue on ignition <= 0.1%, heavy metals (as Pb) <= 10.0 mg/kg, total arsenic <= 2.0 mg/kg, pH 6.0 to 7.5 and chloride <= 0.06%.
Test methods cover sensory appearance, chemical and infrared identification, assay by silicotungstic acid precipitation (reference method) or potentiometric titration with perchloric acid, limit tests for heavy metals and chloride, pH, loss on drying, residue on ignition and total arsenic to GB/T 13079, followed by batching (max.
500 kg), sampling and exit inspection rules. It replaces GB/T 7296-2008: lead has become heavy metals, total arsenic has been added, the residue on ignition limit has been tightened from 0.2% to 0.1%, and the potentiometric assay has been added.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 7296-2008, Feed additive - Vitamin B1 (thiamine mononitrate). Compared with GB/T 7296-2008, the main technical changes are as follows:
- the technical indicator "lead" has been changed to "heavy metals (as Pb), <= 10.0 mg/kg" (see 4.2; 3.2 of the 2008 edition);
- the technical indicator "total arsenic, <= 2.0 mg/kg" has been added (see 4.2);
- the technical indicator "residue on ignition, <= 0.2%" has been changed to "residue on ignition, <= 0.1%" (see 4.2; 3.2 of the 2008 edition);
- for the determination of thiamine mononitrate content, the silicotungstic acid precipitation method has been made the reference (arbitration) method, and a potentiometric titration method has been added (see 5.3).
