Foreword

This document was issued on 30 June 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China, and has been in force since 1 January 2026.

1 Scope

This document specifies the general provisions and installation requirements for traffic

signs in traffic accident management area.

This document applies to the placement of traffic signs during on-site handling of fatal

road traffic accidents or expressway traffic accidents. It may also be used as a reference

for the on-site handling of other road traffic accidents.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 traffic accident management area

An area where temporary traffic management measures are implemented to ensure the

safety of on-site operations following a road traffic accident, prevent secondary

accidents, and maintain road traffic order.

An area located upstream of a road traffic accident site - relative to the direction of

approaching traffic - where warnings are issued to oncoming vehicles and speed limits are enforced.

An area designated at the scene of a road traffic accident where the entry of

unauthorized vehicles and personnel is prohibited.

4 General provisions

4.1 Traffic signs for traffic accident management area (hereinafter referred to as "traffic

signs") are temporary traffic signs that include warning signs, prohibitory signs, and

supplementary signs. Specifically, warning signs include traffic accident management

signs, alignment markers, and two-way traffic signs; prohibitory signs include speed

limit signs, speed limit cancellation signs, and "No Entry" signs.

4.2 Traffic accident management signs are used to warn that on-site handling of a road

traffic accident is underway on the road ahead. Drivers shall slow down, stop and wait,

or detour, as shown in Figure 1.

4.3 Linear delineators are used to guide the direction of travel and alert drivers to

exercise caution and pay attention to changes in road conditions ahead. They shall

feature three arrows, as shown in Figure 2.

4.4 Traffic accident management signs shall feature a fluorescent fire-red background,

black text, and a black border. The chromaticity coordinate range for the fluorescent
