1 Scope

GB 46040-2025 is the Chinese national standard on limits of leachable harmful metal elements in wall materials, in the field of construction materials and building. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 1 August 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 August 2026. This document specifies the limits for leachable hazardous metal elements from wall materials and describes the corresponding test methods. This document is applicable to industrial and civil building wall materials produced by mixing general solid waste.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 18968, GB/T 39198 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Metals that can be dissolved in the leachate and are harmful to the human body and pollute the environment.
