1 Scope

This document defines the terms and definitions for the limitation of harmful substances found in watch casings contacting directly with skin (hereinafter referred to as "watch casings"), specifies the requirements, inspection rules and marking, and describes the corresponding test methods. This document applies to watch casings made of metal, cermet, leather, plastic, rubber, synthetic sapphire, inorganic glass, and fiber composite materials that come into direct contact with human skin.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 children's watches Watches designed for children aged 3 and above and 14 and below. [Source: GB/T 41411-2022, 3.1]
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Release of nickel The limitation of release of nickel from metals and cermet (including coatings) shall be less than 0.5 µg/cm^2/week.
4.1.2 Limitation of other harmful substances Leather watch casings shall comply with the requirements of GB 20400, and the limitation of harmful substances in watch casings made of other materials shall comply with the provisions of Table 1. 4.2 Requirements for casings of children's watches
4.2.1 Basic requirements In addition to meeting the requirements of 4.1, the casings of children's watches shall also meet the requirements of
4.2.2 and 4.2.3.
4.2.2 Migratable elements The content of migratable elements in casings of children's watches shall not exceed the limitation specified in Table 2. Table 2 - Requirements for the limitation of migratable elements in casings of children's watches
4.2.3 Restricted plasticizers The content of restricted plasticizers in casings of children's watches shall not exceed the limitation specified in Table 3. Table 3 - Requirements for the category and limitation of restricted plasticizers
5 Test methods
5.1 Determination of release of nickel Samples with a coating shall be tested according to the method of EN 12472; other samples shall be tested according to the method of EN 1811.
5.2 Determination of heavy metal elements The contents of cadmium, lead, and mercury shall be tested according to the methods in GB/T 39560.301, GB/T 39560.4, and GB/T 39560.5.
5.3 Determination of harmful substances in leather The test shall be conducted according to the method in GB 20400.
5.4 Determination of migratable elements The test shall be conducted according to the method in GB 6675.4.
