1 Scope

GB 40557-2021 is the Chinese national standard on specification for safe navigation of inland waterways high speed passenger ship, in the field of services and company organization. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 10 August 2021 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 March 2022. Classification: ICS 03.220.40, CCS R09. This document specifies the basic requirements for safe navigation of inland high-speed passenger ships, as well as ship maneuvering, navigation and collision avoidance, crew and watchkeeping, and passenger transportation. The technical conditions required for safe navigation such as baggage and carry-on items. This document is applicable to inland high-speed passenger ships navigating on our inland rivers and border rivers.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 High-speed passenger ship Ships rated to carry more than 12 passengers, with a length greater than or equal to 15m, and a maximum speed of not less than 3.70.1667m/s, or the captain 5m~15m (not including 15m), the maximum speed is not less than 3.70.1667m/s and not less than 18km/h. Note

1.The maximum speed (vmax) is the speed that can be achieved when the ship is fully loaded and navigating in still water with the maximum continuous power.

Note 2. is the full-load displacement volume of the ship, in cubic meters (m3).

3.2 Inlandwaterways Navigable waters in rivers, rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
