pressure vessels";

- added three designations. 15MnNiNbDR, 08Ni3DR and 06Ni9DR;

- tightened the control of phosphorus, sulfur (the harmful elements) in

steel;

- improved the low temperature impact absorption energy of each

designation.

This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association.

4 Expression of designation

The steel designation is expressed by average carbon content, alloy element

letter and "D" (the first letter of Di, meaning "low" in Chinese) and "R" (the first

letter of Rong, meaning "capacity" in Chinese) of low temperature pressure

vessel.

Example. 16MnDR.

5 Size, shape, weight and allowable deviation

5.1 The size, shape and allowable deviation of steel plate shall comply with

the provisions of GB/T 709-2006.

5.1.1 The allowable thickness deviation of steel plate shall be in accordance

with B-type requirements of GB/T 709-2006. As required by the purchaser,

indicated in the contract, the steel plate that complies with C-type deviation of

GB/T 709-2006 shall be supplied.

5.1.2 As required by the purchaser, agreed by the supplier and the

purchaser, the steel plate of stricter deviation may be supplied.

5.2 The steel sheet is delivered by theoretical weight. The thickness used

by theoretical weight is the arithmetic mean of the allowable maximum

thickness and the minimum thickness of steel plate. The 06Ni9DR density is

7.89 g/cm3. The density of other steel is 7.85 g/cm3.

6 Technical requirements

6.1 Designation and chemical composition

6.1.1 The steel designation and chemical composition (smelting

the low temperature impact absorption energy of the steel plate can be

delivered at a value higher than that of Table 2. Specific values are stated in

the contract.

6.4.5 When the supplier ensures the bending qualified, the bending test

shall be exempted.

6.5 Ultrasonic testing

6.5.1 The supplier for steel plate delivered in normalizing or normalizing

plus tempering status of which the thickness is greater than 20 mm as well as

the steel plate delivered in quenching plus tempering status of which the

thickness is greater than 16 mm shall carry out the ultrasonic testing one by

one.

6.5.2 Agreed by both parties, the steel plate of other thickness may be

subject to the ultrasonic testing one by one.

6.5.3 Ultrasonic testing standards shall be carried out according to JB/T

4730.3, GB/T 2970 or GB/T 28297. The inspection standards and the

qualification levels shall be indicated in the contract.

6.6 Surface quality

6.6.1 The surface of the steel plate does not allow the presence of cracks,

bubbles, scarring, folding and defects harmful on the use. Steel plates must

not be layered.

If there are defects mentioned above, cleaning is allowed. The cleaning depth

is calculated from the actual size of the steel plate. It shall not be greater than

half the thickness of the steel plate. And it shall ensure the minimum

thickness of the steel plate at the clean...
