Scope
GB 34463-2017 is the English-translated version of 饲料添加剂 L-抗坏血酸钙.
GB 34463-2017 specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, transport, storage and shelf life of the feed additive L-calcium ascorbate (C12H14CaO12 · 2H2O, relative molecular mass 426.35), and applies to the product made from L-ascorbic acid and a calcium salt.
The product is a white crystalline powder that must contain at least 98.0% L-calcium ascorbate, with loss on drying of not more than 0.2%, total arsenic not more than 3.0 mg/kg, lead not more than 10.0 mg/kg, fluorine not more than 30 mg/kg, a specific rotation of +95.0° to +97.0° and a pH of 6.8 to 7.4 in 10% solution.
Identification uses chemical tests for calcium and for ascorbate, the content is determined by iodometric titration with starch indicator, and the other indicators are measured by the referenced national feed and reagent methods.
Chapters 1, 3 and 5 are mandatory and the rest recommended; the inspection rules cover batching, sampling, factory and type inspection and re-inspection, and the shelf life is 18 months.
