Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 28408-2012 "Protective Clothing - Insect-Proof Clothing". Compared with GB/T 28408-2012, the main differences are in the structural design. Aside from the integration and editorial changes, the main changes are as follows:

a) Terms and definitions have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2012 edition);

b) The technical requirements for the style structure have been changed (see 4.1,

4.2.1 of the.2012 edition);

c) The technical requirements for the insect-repellent performance of the fabric have been changed (see 4.3.1.1,

4.1.2 in the.2012 edition);

d) Added technical indicators and tests for formaldehyde content, pH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, and odor in insect-repellent protective clothing fabrics. Methods (see 4.3.1.2, 5.10~5.13);

e) The safety and hygiene requirements for fabrics have been removed (see

4.1.1 in the.2012 version);

f) The technical specifications for sewing finished garments have been changed (see 4.3.2.2,

4.2.4 in the.2012 edition);

g) The technical specifications for the dimensional change rate of finished garments after washing have been revised (see 4.3.2.3,

4.2.5 in the.2012 edition);

1 Scope

GB 28408-2025 is the Chinese national standard on protective clothing - repellent shield clothing, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 29 August 2025 by the Ministry of Emergency Management, and has been in force since 1 September 2026. Classification: ICS 13.340.10, CCS C73. This document specifies the technical requirements, labeling, information that manufacturers should provide, and packaging for insect-proof protective clothing, and describes the testing methods. This document applies to protective clothing worn by workers in environments where mosquitoes and other insects may intrude, and which has an insect-repelling effect.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 12903 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Repelentrate Within the specified testing time, the number of test insects landing on the test protective clothing fabric relative to the number landing on the control fabric sample. The percentage decrease in the number of insects.

3.2 Knockout rate The ratio of the number of test insects that lose their vitality due to the insect-repellent effect of the protective clothing fabric to the total number of test insects within the specified testing period.
