Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document replaces GB/T 24538-2009 Fall protection - Energy absorbers. Compared with GB/T 24538-2009, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) the scope has been changed (see Clause 1; Clause 1 of the 2009 edition);

b) the definition of energy absorber has been changed (see 3.1; 3.1 of the 2009 edition);

c) the definition of pin centre length has been changed (see 3.2; 3.4 of the 2009 edition);

d) the definition of permanent extension has been changed (see 3.3; 3.2 of the 2009 edition);

e) the term and definition of free fall distance have been deleted (see 3.5 of the 2009 edition);

f) "braking force" has been changed to "peak force" (see 3.4; 3.6 of the 2009 edition);

g) the terms and definitions of minimum rated load, maximum rated load and harness have been added (see 3.5 to 3.7);

h) the definition of maximum length after deployment has been changed (see 3.8; 3.3 of the 2009 edition);

i) the classification has been deleted (see Clause 4 of the 2009 edition);

j) "General requirements" has been changed to "Design and construction" (see 4.1; 5.1 of the 2009 edition);

k) the basic technical performance has been deleted (see 5.2 of the 2009 edition);

l) "Static mechanical performance" has been changed to "Initial deformation" and "Static load", and the content of the technical requirements and the test methods have been changed (see 4.2, 4.3, 5.3 and 5.4; 5.2.1, 6.2 and 6.3 of the 2009 edition);

m) "Dynamic mechanical performance" has been changed to "Dynamic performance", and the content of the technical requirements and the test methods have been changed (see 4.4 and 5.5; 5.2.2 and 6.4 of the 2009 edition);

n) "Technical performance in special environments" has been changed to "Performance in special environments", and the content of the technical requirements and the test methods have been changed (see 4.6 and 5.7; 5.3 and 6.6 of the 2009 edition);

o) the test equipment has been changed (see 5.1; 6.1 of the 2009 edition);

p) the corrosion resistance test method has been changed (see 5.6; 6.5 of the 2009 edition);

q) the content of "Permanent marking" has been changed (see Clause 7; 8.1 of the 2009 edition);

r) the content of "Information supplied by the manufacturer" has been changed (see Clause 8; 8.2 of the 2009 edition).
