GB 1903.31-2018 is the Chinese national food safety standard for retinyl acetate, the vitamin A food nutrition enhancer. It applies to retinyl acetate prepared by chemical synthesis from beta-ionone as the main raw material.

The standard gives the molecular formula C22H32O2, the structural formula and the relative molecular mass of 328.50, taken from the 2016 international relative atomic masses.

It then sets the technical requirements: the sensory requirements of Table 1 - light yellow colour, crystalline powder and a slightly characteristic smell that must not be rancid, judged on a sample placed in a clean dry white porcelain dish under natural light - and the physical and chemical indicators of Table 2. It was issued on 21 June 2018 and has applied since 21 December 2018.
