Scope

GB 1886.313-2020 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准食品添加剂联苯醚（又名二苯醚）.

GB 1886.313-2020 is the Chinese national food safety standard for the food additive diphenyl ether made from phenol and chlorobenzene.

It gives the molecular formula C12H10O, the structural formula and the relative molecular mass 170.21 based on the 2018 international relative atomic masses, then sets the sensory requirements and the other technical requirements of the additive.

Appendix A carries the test methods: the general rules on reagent purity, on class-III water to GB/T 6682 and on solutions prepared to GB/T 601, GB/T 602 and GB/T 603, and the identification test, which measures the infrared absorption spectrum by attenuated total reflection in accordance with GB/T 6040 and compares it with the standard spectrum reproduced in Appendix B. It was issued on 11 September 2020 and has applied since 11 March 2021.

This Standard is applicable to the food additive of diphenyl ether made from phenol and chlorobenzene.

The sensory requirements shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.

Appendix A Test Methods

A.1 General rules

Unless otherwise specified in this Standard, the purity of the used reagents shall be above the analytical purity; and the standard solutions, formulations, and products for the determination of the used standard titration solutions and impurities shall be prepared according to the provisions of GB/T 601, GB/T 602, and GB/T 603. The test water shall comply with the provisions of Class-III water specified in GB/T 6682. The solution used in the test refers to an aqueous solution when it is not specified which solvent is used for preparation.

A.2 Identification test

Use attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATR method) to measure the infrared absorption spectrum in accordance with GB/T 6040; the measured infrared spectrum shall be consistent with the standard diphenyl ether spectrum (see Appendix B).
