Scope

GB 1886.298-2018 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准食品添加剂聚氧丙烯氧化乙烯甘油醚.

GB 1886.298-2018 is the Chinese national food safety standard for the food additive polyoxypropylene oxyethylene glyceryl ether. It applies to the additive made from ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and glycerol, polymerised, neutralised and refined.

It gives the structural formula, with the degree of polymerisation of the ethylene oxide units above 10 and of the propylene oxide units above 3, and then the technical requirements.

The sensory requirements are a colourless or yellowish transparent liquid, examined by taking a sample in a clean dry colorimetric tube and looking at its colour and state in natural light, while the physical and chemical indicators are given in a table. It was issued on 21 June 2018 and has applied since 21 December 2018.

K1, k2, k3: degree of polymerization of ethylene oxide, k1 k2 k3 >10;

N1, n2, n3: degree of polymerization of propylene oxide, n1 n2 n3 >3.
