Scope

GB 1886.297-2018 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准食品添加剂聚氧丙烯甘油醚.

GB 1886.297-2018 is the Chinese national food safety standard for the food additive polyoxypropylene glyceryl ether.

It applies to the additive obtained by polymerising propylene oxide with glycerol as raw materials, followed by neutralisation and refining, and it gives the structural formula with the degrees of polymerisation of the propylene oxide chains.

It sets the sensory requirements - a colourless or pale yellow transparent liquid, examined in a clean dry cuvette under natural light - and the physical and chemical indicators: moisture, hydroxyl value expressed as potassium hydroxide, and residual propylene oxide, each with the test method to be used, GB 5009.3, GB/T 7383 and the procedure in Appendix A. It was issued on 21 June 2018 and has applied since 21 December 2018.
