Scope

GB 16413-2009 is the English-translated version of 煤矿井下用玻璃钢制品安全性能检验规范.

GB 16413-2009 specifies the flame-retardant and antistatic safety requirements, the test methods and the inspection rules for glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) products used underground in coal mines, and applies to the safety inspection of those products.

The flame retardancy requirement, tested with an alcohol blowtorch at (960±60) °C on six 300 mm × 50 mm strips, limits the flaming after-flame time to a mean of 5 s and a maximum of 15 s, and the flameless after-burn time to a mean of 20 s and a maximum of 60 s.

The antistatic requirement, measured with brass ring electrodes on 300 mm × 300 mm specimens at (25±5) °C and (65±5)% relative humidity, limits the mean surface resistance of each face to 3×10^8 Omega.

Both tests are factory and type inspection items; the standard defines batches of 5 000 kg, type inspection every 2 years with a 5 kg sample from a 500 kg base, and retesting on double samples.

Clause 3 is mandatory and the rest recommended. It replaces GB 16413-1996, dropping the terms clause, averaging the flame retardancy indicator and adding the inspection table and sampling rules.

This standard replaces GB 16413-1996, Inspecting specification of glass fiber reinforced plastic product safety property for coal mining.

Compared with GB 16413-1996, the main changes in this standard are as follows:

- the terms and definitions have been deleted (see Clause 2 of the 1996 edition);

- the sampling base and sampling quantity have been added (5.1.2.3 of this edition);

- a table of inspection items has been added (5.1.1.1 of this edition);

- the flame retardancy indicator has been changed from a sum to an arithmetic mean (3.1 of the 1996 edition; 3.1 of this edition);

- the specimen appearance in the specimen preparation for the flame retardancy test method has been adjusted (4.1.1 b and 5.2.2 of the 1996 edition; 4.1.1.3 and 4.2.1.2 of this edition);

- the accuracy of the stopwatch has been adjusted (4.1.2.3 of the 1996 edition; 4.1.2.4 of this edition).
