Scope

GB 14569.3-1995 is the English-translated version of 低、中水平放射性废物固化体性能要求沥青固化体.

GB 14569.3 is the bitumen counterpart of the cementation standard: it sets what a bituminised low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste form must satisfy — the specific activity limit, and then homogeneity, water content, waste loading, softening point and water resistance. Bitumen gives a higher waste loading and a lower leach rate than cement but softens with heat and is combustible, which is why the softening point sits among the acceptance criteria.
