Scope
GB 13851-2022 is the English-translated version of 内河交通安全标志.
GB 13851 is the sign book of China's inland waterways. It defines the traffic safety signs used on rivers, canals and lakes - the prohibition, warning, mandatory and indication signs, the navigation marks for bridges and locks, and the boards that carry them - and it fixes their shape, colour, dimensions, graphics, lettering, retroreflective materials, illumination and the rules for where each one is placed. It is the document a waterway authority follows when signing a stretch of river, and the one a sign manufacturer is measured against. At 25,000 words it is a substantial reference rather than a short specification. Issued on 29 December 2022, in force since 1 July 2023, replacing GB 13851-2019. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the edition it replaces are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are not reproduced on this page - they are in the document itself, which is delivered in full in English translation.
