Scope

GB 11780-2005 is the English-translated version of 南海区拖网网囊最小网目尺寸.

GB 11780-2005 fixes the minimum mesh size of the cod-end of trawls fished in the South China Sea and applies to cod-end trawls used by fishing vessels on the South China Sea fishing grounds.

It sets the cod-end structure: diamond meshes in the front and rear sections and a square-mesh middle section at least 6.00 m long (stretched netting), a square mesh being a fully opened diamond mesh mounted with its bars running horizontally and vertically.

The minimum mesh size is 40 mm, measured on the single-layer cod-end after immersion in water and shrinkage; mesh size is expressed as the inside mesh opening defined in SC/T 5001 and measured by the method of GB/T 6964, the same for square and diamond meshes, with the pretension of GB/T 6965.

It replaces GB 11780-1989: the clause on cod-end structure and 5.4 have been added, and the minimum mesh size has been changed from 39 mm (diamond mesh) to 40 mm (square mesh); all its technical contents are mandatory.

All technical contents of this standard are mandatory.

This standard replaces GB 11780-1989, Minimum mesh size of the trawl cod-end in the South China Sea.

Compared with GB 11780-1989, the main changes are as follows:

- Clause 3 "Structure of the cod-end" has been added;

- the minimum mesh size of the cod-end has been changed from 39 mm (diamond mesh) in the previous standard to 40 mm (square mesh);

- 5.4 has been added;

- the mesh size is larger than that specified in the previous standard.

This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Fishing Gear Sub-committee of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Fisheries.
